The Parkland Matadors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 63-28 loss at the hands of Bel Air. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Parkland in their matchups with Bel Air: they've now lost six in a row.
Parkland's loss came despite strong showings from Rachael Silva and Mia Arambula. Silva scored 13 points, while Arambula scored four points.
Parkland struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bel Air pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Bel Air found their leader in underclassman Jayde Martinez, who scored 25 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinez has scored all season. Alyssa Saldana was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Parkland has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Bel Air, their victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkland will take on Hanks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanks is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games. As for Bel Air, they will be playing at home against Horizon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Horizon comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
