The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Boulder Creek Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mountain Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Mountain Ridge was beaten by Basha 84-35. While losing is never fun, Mountain Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Basha is ranked fourth).
Andy Saeva put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 15 points. The match was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jaiden Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, Boulder Creek entered their tilt with Westwood with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Boulder Creek simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Westwood 85-30 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-15.
Brayden Newton was a one-man wrecking crew for Boulder Creek as he scored 33 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aleks Beshku, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds.
Prescott's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Mountain Ridge's loss dropped theirs to 4-3.
Mountain Ridge came up short against Boulder Creek in their previous matchup back in January, falling 67-60. Can Mountain Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
