West Prairie is 1-6 against Augusta Southeastern since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the West Prairie Cyclones will head out on the road to face off against the Augusta Southeastern Suns at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th.
West Prairie pushed their score all the way to 63 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hartsburg-Emden. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (60), West Prairie still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Cole Cordell, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Braden Coplan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Augusta Southeastern at home against Bushnell-Prairie City on Wednesday as the team secured a 53-25 win. The win was just what Augusta Southeastern needed coming off of a 58-29 defeat in their prior matchup.
West Prairie's defeat was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-24. As for Augusta Southeastern, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
West Prairie was taken down by Augusta Southeastern 45-7 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can West Prairie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
