Niceville and Navarre are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The two teams will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Niceville is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Niceville stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 62-36 margin over Crestview. Given Niceville's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Crestview is ranked 194th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Niceville can attribute much of their success to Anna Kimball, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Carson Fayard, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Fayard has scored at least a third of Niceville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anabelle Shackelford, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Navarre suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 54-27 loss at the hands of Gulf Breeze. Navarre was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-5.
Niceville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Navarre, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.
Everything came up roses for Niceville against Navarre when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 59-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Niceville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
