If the Chaparral Wolverines were feeling good off their 65-41 takedown of the MacArthur Brahmas on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chaparral fell just short of Shoemaker by a score of 72-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Saturday (65), Chaparral still had to take the loss.
Chaparral's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Carter, who scored 25 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Carter scored a full 36.2% of Chaparral's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Christian Williams, who scored 15 points along with 6 steals.
Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Shoemaker, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaparral will take on Rocky Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Rocky Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Shoemaker, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pflugerville Connally at 7:00 p.m. Pflugerville Connally will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 536th, while Shoemaker is ranked 108th).
