On the hitting side, Blake Cope was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. Eli Kegeris also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Covenant Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Speedway only posted a batting average of .130.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Perry Meridian's offense. They fell just short of Mooresville by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday.
Not much got past Jackson McDaniel, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Mooresville off the board.
At the plate, Perry Meridian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Herndon, who went 1-for-4 with one double.
Covenant Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
