Octorara Area had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-8 to make it six. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Donegal Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on April 2nd.
Aidan Marsh and Gabriel Kreider did some serious damage despite the final result: Marsh went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Kreider went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Brayden Remphrey was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Donegal, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Donegal's side, Devin Bailey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bailey also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Donegal is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Bailey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Donegal got a massive performance out of Leland Condran, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Condran a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shaun DiBello, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Octorara Area will head out to square off against Conestoga Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Donegal, they will welcome Eastern Lebanon County at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
