The Toronto Red Knights will venture away from home to square off against the David Anderson Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Toronto has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 21.
Toronto lost 13-1 to River on Monday.
Toronto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arianna Highsmith, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, David Anderson made easy work of Leetonia on Monday and carried off a 20-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won nine in a row.
Kamryn Peruchetti made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lexi Roush was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Aria Reckner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
David Anderson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Toronto's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for David Anderson, their record now sits at 6-12.
Everything went Toronto's way against David Anderson when the teams last played back in March, as Toronto made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
