Jeannette is 0-6 against Serra Catholic since May of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Jayhawks will face off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Jeannette's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Ellis 10-0. The win continues a trend for the Jayhawks in their matchups with Ellis: they've now won seven in a row.

Grace Stein made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Abby Shaw was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Gianna Casino was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Jeannette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ellis only posted an OBP of .111.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Serra Catholic). Everything went their way against Leechburg on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-3 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Kelly Morrissey was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keyara Watkins, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Alonna Morton, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.
Serra Catholic's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Jeannette, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Jeannette's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Jayhawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Serra Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Jeannette continue to outrun the ball?
Jeannette suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Serra Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Jayhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
