Chloe Purgason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Parkwood's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Geneva Yow, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Lily Kucmerowski also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Yow wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Parkwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuthbertson only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Central Academy entered their tilt with Monroe on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over the Redhawks. Considering the Cougars have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Carys Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Thomas was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Darby Burnett was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Siena Crawford was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Parkwood's record is now 3-5. As for Central Academy, their record now sits at 5-3.
Parkwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Does Parkwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
