It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Longmont Trojans can now relate to. They took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pueblo West on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Longmont still got an impressive performance from Kolby Holmes, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 246 yards and four touchdowns. Joey Foot was in the mix too, providing Longmont with three touchdowns.
Pueblo West was led to victory by Zach Duran and Gavin Lockett. Duran rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns, while Lockett rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry.
Longmont bumped their record down to 5-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Pueblo West, Loveland, and Erie. As for Pueblo West, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Longmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pueblo West will head out on the road to face off against Montrose at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Montrose will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
