St. Paul is a perfect 7-0 against New Hampton School since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Big Red will head out on the road to square off against the Huskies at 4:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, St. Paul's put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Brewster Academy National as they made off with a 17-6 win. Considering the Big Red have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, New Hampton School never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Brewster Academy National. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Huskies' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Bodie Bartram made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because New Hampton School is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-6-1 otherwise. Bartram was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Conor Griffin and Hayden Weeks did most of the damage at the plate: Griffin went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Weeks went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Griffin is becoming a predictor of New Hampton School's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-0-1 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Max Moore also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
New Hampton School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are undefeated (3-0) when they post 11 or more hits.
St. Paul's has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for New Hampton School, their record is now 4-7-1.
St. Paul's took their win against New Hampton School in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Big Red since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
