On Friday, The North River Christian Chargers faced the Evangel Christian Academy Lions in a battle between two of the state's top teams. North River Christian was dealt a 68-26 loss at the hands of Evangel Christian Academy. North River Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Evangel Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October.
Evangel Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was DJ Mack out in front who rushed for 261 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Mack's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was mekhi williams, who threw for 237 yards and five touchdowns on only 17 passes.
This is the second loss in a row for North River Christian and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Evangel Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
North River Christian will square off against Cornerstone Christian at TBD on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Cornerstone Christian is ranked seventh, while North River Christian is ranked 13th). Evangel Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
