The Northeast Early College Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Taylor Ducks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Northeast Early College not only won last Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 27, 2024 (when they won 61-0). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Austin Achieve 40-6. The Raiders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Taylor got themselves on the board against Austin Achieve on Friday, but Austin Achieve never followed suit. They blew past the Polar Bears, posting a 73-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ducks.
Taylor's win came from a few key players Northeast Early College will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eric Walker Ii, who rushed for 127 yards and one touchdown. Taylor is 2-1 when Walker Ii posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Guzman, who rushed for 30 yards and one score.
Taylor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Taylor didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Adriel Ronquillo and Joshua Meller. Taylor received some extra help from Cory Gleich, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Northeast Early College, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Northeast Early College took a serious blow against Taylor when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 57-0. Thankfully for the Raiders, Andrias Fisher (who rushed for 274 yards and four TDs on only seven carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
