The Aiken Falcons waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Ross with a 61-57 victory. Given Aiken's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Ross is ranked 446th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aiken's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaiden Arnold, who scored 12 points along with six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Justin Hawkins, who scored 17 points.
Aiken pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ross, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
Aiken will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Hughes at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hughes is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Ross, they will be playing at home against Northwest at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Ross likes a good challenge.
