After losing to the Runge Yellowjackets the last time they met, the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Santa Gertrudis Academy walked away with a 35-26 victory over Runge on Sunday.
Santa Gertrudis Academy can attribute much of their success to Kaitlyn `mejia, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that `mejia scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Barrientos, who scored six points.
Santa Gertrudis Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Runge, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Santa Gertrudis Academy will be playing at home against Miller at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Runge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Moulton at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Moulton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Runge in Texas (Moulton is ranked 727th, while Runge is ranked 1520th).
