Grand Oaks came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the New Caney Eagles with a sharp 9-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-4 last Friday.

Ben Garrett tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Collin Martin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Matthews, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Grand Oaks' record now sits at 13-7. As for New Caney, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Grand Oaks is set to challenge their familiar foe Conroe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, New Caney will square off against rival Willis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
