The Canton Central Catholic Crusaders couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 66-51 to Austintown-Fitch.
Canton Central Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Luke Vlacovsky and Lance Vlacovsky. Vlacovsky scored 16 points, while Vlacovsky scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Minor, who scored 6 points.
Austintown-Fitch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Allen Hill Jr out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Marcel Finkley was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 3 steals.
Canton Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Austintown-Fitch, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canton Central Catholic will face off against Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will head out on the road to face off against Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Mooney and Austintown-Fitch are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
