The Sheldon Panthers waltzed into their match Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They blew past Bronaugh 55-32. That's another feather in the cap for Sheldon, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Shon Bogart continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Riley Chapman, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Bronaugh lost, one person who can't be blamed is Strauss Banes. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Banes set a new season high mark in blocks with four. Tucker Duncan was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Sheldon's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Bronaugh, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sheldon will face off against Wheatland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wheatland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sheldon in Missouri (Wheatland is ranked 128th, while Sheldon is ranked 261st). As for Bronaugh, they will head out on the road to face off against Ballard at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Ballard is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
