Even though the Dixie Hornets have not done well against the Southside Christian Sabres recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Dixie escaped with a win against Southside Christian by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. The win was just business as usual for Dixie, who after five games remain undefeated this season.
Dixie can attribute much of their success to Jaren Byers, who scored 19 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. The matchup was Byers' third in a row with at least ten points. Kadin Stoll was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Southside Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zane Hagy, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds, and Cameron Franklin who scored 6 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Syncere Williams, who scored 12 points.
Dixie's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Southside Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
