Basketball Recap: Statesboro Comes Up Short

Statesboro was the 45-38 winner over Glynn Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Statesboro Blue Devils fell 49-38 to the Glynn Academy Terrors on Friday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Statesboro still got an impressive performance from Gerziya Haggray, who went 8 for 19 en route to 19 points along with seven boards and four steals. The matchup was Haggray's third in a row with at least ten points.

Glynn Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyssa Martin out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Martin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Faith Jernigan, who posted 15 points.

Statesboro's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Glynn Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-9.

Statesboro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-40 defeat against Brunswick on the 18th. As for Glynn Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-34 win against South Effingham on the 18th.
