Wasatch Academy has struggled against Merit Preparatory Academy recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Merit Preparatory Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lizbeth Diaz out in front who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayla Coltharp, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Wasatch Academy dropped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.3 points per game. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wasatch Academy will face off against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
