It was a good run, but The Palm Bay Pirates unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 49-14 loss at the hands of Cocoa. Palm Bay has struggled against Cocoa recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Byron Thompson threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Camren Williams was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards. On the ground, Larry Johnson iii rushed for 48 yards.
Cocoa's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Latrison Lane, who rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns. Lane is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Dj Bryant was in the mix as well, providing Cocoa with two touchdowns.
Palm Bay's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Cocoa, their win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Palm Bay will take on Satellite at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cocoa, they will head out on the road to face off against Rockledge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rockledge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Cocoa is ranked fourth).
