A Season-Best Performance from Colton Lucero Leads Pagosa Springs over Bayfield
Pagosa Springs came up short on Thursday despite Colton Lucero delivering his best game to date. Lucero rushed for 400 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played dating back to last season.
On the season, Lucero has averaged 23.5 receiving yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after six games last season, he had four rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to 16.

On Friday, Alamosa got the W thanks in part to Dyson Woodward playing the best football he has all season. Woodward rushed for 228 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.
Unfortunately for Gunnison, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Woodward. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Woodward saw the Cowboys), he rushed for 112 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 211 yards and a touchdown.

Graden Buckhanan Dazzles in Gunnison Loss
Gunnison had to settle for second on Friday, but Graden Buckhanan sure wasn't going down easily. Buckhanan was dynamite, rushing for 155 yards and two touchdowns.
Gunnison is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. Buckhanan and Gunnison will be playing at home against Pagosa Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Bayfield found a leader in Lincoln Williams as the squad took down Pagosa Springs on Thursday. Nobody could stop Williams as he rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown. He also made an appearance on special teams (luckily for Bayfield): his a 45-yard strike wound up winning them the game.
This season, Williams has averaged 38.3 receiving yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after six games last season, he was only averaging 2.5 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 44 rushing yards.
