Softball Recap: Parkland Beats Allentown Central Catholic for Their Third Straight Victory

Parkland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Allentown Central Catholic Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 on April 14th.

Allison Hunsberger was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hunsberger was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amelia Dawson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Elizabeth Pinkham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Parkland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .628 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Parkland pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Allentown Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Looking ahead, Parkland will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitehall at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Zephyrs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Allentown Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on William Allen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the Canaries at the right time seeing as the Canaries are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
