Munroe and Altha are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but likely not for long. The Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Munroe has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wakulla Christian School hit Munroe with a ten-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bobcats came up short against the Saints, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bobcats have lost by exactly ten runs.
Munroe saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christopher Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Jackson's first of the season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Altha duked it out with Gadsden County on Friday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 25-1 margin over the Jaguars. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Mason Hill made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hill was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Altha let Jesse Glover and Will O'Bryan run wild. Glover went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while O'Bryan got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gauge Edenfield, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
This is the second loss in a row for Munroe and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for Altha, their record is now 2-0.
Munroe suffered a grim 18-5 defeat to Altha when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
