McCurdy has been on the road for four straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Mesa Vista Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
McCurdy can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Questa 75-35 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-16.
McCurdy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucas Martinez led the charge by scoring 18 points along with three steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremaya Roybal, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mesa Vista entered their tilt with Jemez Valley with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Mesa Vista blew past Jemez Valley, posting a 74-33 win at home. That 41 points margin sets a new team best for Mesa Vista this season.
McCurdy pushed their record up to 9-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Mesa Vista, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
McCurdy skirted past Mesa Vista 70-68 in their previous matchup on January 4th. Will McCurdy repeat their success, or does Mesa Vista have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
