The Maranatha Minutemen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Whittier Christian 83-55 on the road. Maranatha has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.
Leading Maranatha to victory were Chris Smith and Zain Mahmood. Smith scored 18 points along with five assists and three steals, while Mahmood scored 17 points along with eight assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles O'Malley, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Whittier Christian saw an underclassman step up: Leland Carrido scored 23 points along with four steals. Mateo Morris was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Maranatha's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-9. As for Whittier Christian, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-19.
Maranatha does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Whittier Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
