Cornell and the Golden Beavers are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Cornell Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Western Beaver Golden Beavers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornell is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Cornell was beaten by the Scotties 70-20. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cornell has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Western Beaver's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 67-49 to Union Area. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Western Beaver in their matchups with the Scotties: they've now lost seven in a row.
Western Beaver's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jackson Liller, who scored 19 points, and Nathan Schwarz who scored 19 points. That was a full 38.8% of Western Beaver's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Cornell's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Western Beaver, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.
Cornell skirted past the Golden Beavers 39-37 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cornell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
