The Freedom Patriots lost against the East Burke Cavaliers two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Freedom suffered a tough 71-49 defeat at the hands of East Burke. While losing is never fun, Freedom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while East Burke is ranked 13th).
It was another big night for Braelyn Stilwell, who scored 23 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals for East Burke. That makes it six consecutive games in which Stilwell has scored at least 25% of East Burke's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Brinkley, who shot 4-for-4 from deep and dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for East Burke, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Freedom will play host again and welcome Shelby, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for East Burke, they will head out on the road to face off against Draughn at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
