Horizon Christian are taking a road trip to take on the Liberty Christian Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Horizon Christian has seven straight wins, Liberty Christian has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Horizon Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-6), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Park Tudor a 21-0 shutout on Monday. Horizon Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Lucy Long and Victoria Kiger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Long tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kiger struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Long has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Long went 3-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Kiger got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The team also got some help courtesy of Cambria Hathaway, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Horizon Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Liberty Christian took on Elwood on Friday. The Lions lost 25-5 to the Panthers.
Horizon Christian pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.2 runs over those games. As for Liberty Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Horizon Christian took their victory against Liberty Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 27-12 score. Does Horizon Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberty Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
