The high school football season in North Dakota came to a close over the weekend.
Kindred was among the victors with a 37-14 win over
Hillsboro-Central Valley (Buxton) in the Class 11B state championship game. That victory helped propel the Vikings to the No. 1 ranking in the final North Dakota MaxPreps Top 25.
Kindred (12-1) was a first time state champion, avenging a late August loss to Hillsboro-Central Valley in the title game. Outside of that lone blemish, the Vikings were dominant in 2021, averaging nearly 40 points per game (39.8) while holding opponents to just under 13 points per game (12.6).
Checking in at No. 2 was 11AA state champion
Sheyenne (West Fargo), which went undefeated (12-0) with a 27-7 win over
West Fargo in the title game. The Mustangs fell in the final each of the past two years but senior running back
Joshua Henricks assured their wouldn't be a third straight setback by running 39 times for 238 yards and three touchdowns against West Fargo.
