The Brewer Bears waltzed into their matchup Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They ended the year with a bang, routing Dallas Christian 54-32. Given Brewer's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Dallas Christian is ranked 708th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brewer had a senior duo take command as Julian Perez scored 18 points and Tyren Mitchell scored nine points along with four steals. The contest was Perez's 19th in a row with at least ten points. Austin Haley was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Brewer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Dallas Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Brewer and Crandall will round out the year against one another at 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday at. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Chaz Wallace and Perez. Dallas Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kemp at 3:40 p.m. on December 28th. Kemp is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
