Even though the Quincy Orioles scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, the Bronson Vikings still came out on top. Bronson walked away with a 64-55 win over Quincy. Given Bronson's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Quincy is ranked 411th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bronson was led to victory by Sayler Wotta and Kamron Brackett. Wotta dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Brackett dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. Brackett is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Kiomento, who scored eight points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Quincy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brandon Miner. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. Grant Carter was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Bronson and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Quincy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Bronson is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Parchment at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. One thing working in Parchment's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for Quincy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mendon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
