Yorktown and Shelbyville are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yorktown will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Yorktown is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Northeastern with a sharp 15-1 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Cohen West looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Yorktown got a massive performance out of Henry Tokar, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Tokar a new career-high. Cole Perdue was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Yorktown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Shelbyville unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Columbus North by a score of 9-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Dalton Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Grantland Fitzgerald, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Yorktown now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Shelbyville, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-7.
Yorktown couldn't quite get it done against Shelbyville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
