The Lodi Flames will venture away from home to challenge the Manteca Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Lodi: 3.1, Manteca: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Manteca will be up against a hot Lodi squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Lodi came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against East Union.
The team relied heavily on Allison Frank, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Bailey Nelson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Manteca entered their tilt with Calaveras on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Red Hawks by a score of 7-3.
Isabel Tonna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sienna Lowery was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Moncada, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Manteca's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Lodi, their record now sits at 7-2.
Manteca's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lodi hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .391. It's a different story for Manteca, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Lodi's hitters?
Lodi might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Manteca in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Lodi avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
