The Trenton Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hope Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Trenton, who comes in off a win.
Trenton posted their closest victory yet this season on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Williston 48-46. Given Trenton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Williston is ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trenton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Koi Perry out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 rebounds and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Perry pulled down eight or more rebounds. Nyima Gillyard was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Hope Academy came up short against Tavares on Thursday and fell 51-41.
Trenton pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Hope Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
