The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Southern Prep Academy and five for Macon-East Montgomery Academy.
Southern Prep Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 70-46 defeat at the hands of Success Unlimited Academy. While losing is never fun, Southern Prep Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Success Unlimited Academy is ranked 108th).
Meanwhile, Macon-East Montgomery Academy suffered a tough 52-26 loss at the hands of Hooper Academy on Friday.
The losing side was boosted by Keagan Roney, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Thaddeus McKinney was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Southern Prep Academy's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-13. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Southern Prep Academy took a serious blow against Macon-East Montgomery Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 64-19. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Roney, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
