Wood River easily dispatched Sugar-Salem last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one.  Makinzie Nelson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 14 batters over  six innings while giving up  five earned  (and two unearned) runs off   six  hits. With that strong performance,  she is now averaging an impressive 5.7  strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.
 Nelson wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Paityn Nelson, who  went 2-for-4 with two  RBI.
Wood River's loss was  their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Burley, their win  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 2-5.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bobcats beat Wood River by a score of  15-12 later that day.
