Ellsworth and St. Croix Central are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Ellsworth Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the St. Croix Central Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Ellsworth fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They snuck past Prescott with a 40-34 win two Fridays ago.
Meanwhile, St. Croix Central had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Baldwin-Woodville on the road to the tune of 54-21. St. Croix Central pushed the score to 33-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Baldwin-Woodville had little chance of recovering from.
Their wins bumped Ellsworth to 5-3 and St. Croix Central to 7-1.
Ellsworth strolled past St. Croix Central when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 28-13. Will Ellsworth repeat their success, or does St. Croix Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
