The Olathe Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the Ouray Trojans at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olathe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.
Olathe took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They managed a 72-67 win over North Fork.
Isaiah Gordon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 33 points along with five assists and three blocks. That makes it nine consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Olathe's points. Another player making a difference was Jeyden Estrada, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds.
Olathe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Ouray hadn't done well against Mancos recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Ouray simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mancos 61-25. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-8.
Olathe better keep an eye on Cavan Pasek. He was instrumental in Ouray's win, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 18 boards. The matchup was Pasek's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Hill, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points and three blocks.
The victory got Ouray back to even at 9-9. As for Olathe, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 9-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Olathe has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Ouray struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Olathe beat Ouray 70-60 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pasek, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Olathe still be able to contain Pasek? There's only one way to find out.
