The Cheshire Rams will face off against the Holy Cross Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
If Cheshire beats Holy Cross with 12 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Rams put the hurt on East Haven with a sharp 12-1 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Johnny Nelson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Michael Delaney looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Cheshire let Anthony Calli and Tyler Lentini run wild. Calli went 3-for-4 with five RBI, while Lentini went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three hits gave Calli a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cal Battipaglia, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Holy Cross got themselves on the board against Derby on Monday, but Derby never followed suit. They blew past the Red Raiders 14-0. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Red Raiders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Cheshire, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Cheshire got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Holy Cross by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
