Delaney Young was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds for Richard Winn Academy. Meagan Brigman was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Newberry Academy's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.2 points per game. As for Richard Winn Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newberry Academy will face off against Cambridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cambridge Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Newberry Academy in South Carolina (Cambridge Academy is ranked 122nd, while Newberry Academy is ranked 263rd). Richard Winn Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Wardlaw Academy at 6:15 p.m. on January 23rd.
