It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Magee Trojans had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over Perry Central. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Magee was led to victory by Kendarious Porter and Kendal Middleton. Porter rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, while Middleton rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Jeremiah Cole also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Perry Central still got an impressive performance from Ausin Jones, who threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Brian Scroggins, who picked up 144 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The victory makes it two in a row for Magee and bumps their season record up to 4-8. As for Perry Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Magee will take on Jefferson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Perry Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
