There's no place like home for the Gloucester Fishermen, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 win over Danvers on Thursday. This was payback for Gloucester, who suffered a 57-46 loss the last time these two teams met.
Despite the loss, Danvers had strong showings from Benjamin Hanas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds, and Connor DiTomaso, who scored 12 points. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Kevin Ahearn was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Even though they lost, Danvers were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Gloucester's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Danvers, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gloucester will challenge Masconomet Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Danvers, they will head out on the road to face off against Beverly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Beverly's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
