The May River Sharks 's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hilton Head Island. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for May River in their matchups with Hilton Head Island: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why May River lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nia Taylor. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Taylor pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Dalton, who scored five points along with four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hilton Head Island to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deja Godsun, who scored ten points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Amaya Wroten, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
May River now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Hilton Head Island, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. May River will take on Colleton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. May River is facing Colleton County at the right time seeing as Colleton County is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Hilton Head Island, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lucy Beckham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lucy Beckham focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
