The San Marcos Rattlers will head out on the road to square off against the East Central Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for San Marcos and six for East Central.
Last Friday, San Marcos suffered a tough 69-45 loss at the hands of New Braunfels. While losing is never fun, San Marcos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while New Braunfels is ranked 21st).
Despite the defeat, San Marcos had strong showings from Ory Williams, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Cash Good, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Donavan Riddick, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, East Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 56-51 to Clemens. East Central has struggled against Clemens recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
San Marcos dropped their record down to 21-13 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for East Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-13 record this season.
San Marcos beat East Central 63-56 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was East Central's Jacob Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds.
