Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Centennial walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Central Cobras with a sharp 15-7 win on Tuesday. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Alfonso Hernandez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only posted an OBP of .361.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10-1.
Coming up, Centennial will face off against Vero Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
