The Carver Vo-Tech Bears were the 57-27 winner over the Mergenthaler Vo-Tech Mustangs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Carver Vo-Tech fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 62-60. Carver Vo-Tech has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Carver Vo-Tech lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kalial Colclough, who scored 14 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Dorrian Sands, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Carver Vo-Tech's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Mergenthaler Vo-Tech, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Carver Vo-Tech will be playing in front of their home fans against the Poets at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Dunbar is ranked 73rd, while the Bears are ranked 68th). Mergenthaler Vo-Tech will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Black Knights at 5:15 p.m. on February 13th.
