The Maywood Academy Nighthawks can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 62-30 win over Torres on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Maywood Academy.
Maywood Academy was led to victory by Rodrigo Miranda and Edinson Castaneda. Miranda scored seven points along with 13 assists and five rebounds, while Castaneda scored 21 points along with three steals. Miranda is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now racked up ten or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Fernando Payan, who scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and two blocks.
Several Toros players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oscar Gonzalez, who scored ten points. Jeremy Escobar was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Maywood Academy's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-14. As for Torres, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Maywood Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Gladiators at 4:00 p.m. Marquez is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Torres, they will face off against the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sotomayor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
